Pierre is here with us today for a consultation. He is 48 years old, his teeth overlap, and his upper teeth are forward compared to his lower teeth.

I proceed with the exam and I start with his face distinctive features. His profile is good, despite a chin that is setting back a bit. His lip posture is close during a calm state and his teeth alignment problem does not really affect his upper lip. I continue examining his dentition; first, how his molars interlock when he chews; second, his maxillary width compared to the mandible; third the lack of space if the teeth are set back upright; fourth, the bone health and gums in general.

His gum health is excellent, the gap between the upper and the lower teeth is moderate, the overlapping will be corrected without any tooth extradition.

The Invisalign orthodontic treatment will consist to wear invisible aligners that will be replaced every 14 days. The length of the treatment will be about 12 months.

I explain to Pierre, that there is no age for an Invisalign orthodontic treatment as long as the teeth and gums are in good health. The complexity of the treatment will depend on the gap between the jaw and the lack of space to properly realign the teeth. The invisible devices are recommended for simple and moderate cases. Even if more complex cases can be corrected, it is recommended to collaborate for a period of time that could be as long as 30 months.
